Federal Colonial Dining Room Reveal!

I promised to show you a recently completed dining room and I finally had a good friend and amazing photographer Lindsey Reed Photography come and do the shoot! It was a lot of fun and I think she really captured the room beautifully.

A professional couple from NYC recently purchased a weekend country home in one of my favorite NJ towns Lambertville, NJ! The federal colonial had great bones and beautiful wood working, so my job was made that much easier. The client made some major purchases like the dining room table from Ethan Allen and also purchased an area rug. They came to a halt when in her words the room is becoming so "traditional." She expressed that she wanted an eclectic design with a bold statement made with the chairs. They only wanted to paint the walls, wall coverings was not an option and also requested not to move any electrical wiring that was pre-existing. Working within these boundaries as well as a specific budget, I presented three design concepts and she chose her favorite here! We spent some time choosing one of kind elements and we also incorporated pieces from big box stores and the result is so great! Here are some before shots including the new table and rug already purchased.

And here are the after shots!

Here are some of the details I wanted to share with you....Th abstract artwork above the fireplace mantel is from one of my favorite studios - Black Crow Studios! It has become the focal point in the room and just brings out all the beautiful colors in the drapes and chairs. The antique chairs that were reupholstered are from a great local antique auction house Kamelot Auctions in Philadelphia, PA. I recommend a visit to one of their auctions! Below are some closer detail shots that I think you will like!

I hope you liked this reveal and would love for each reader to leave me a comment, they are invaluable!

Updates Around My Place!

I realized that I haven't shared a couple of small updates around here......I am always on the hunt for specific furniture pieces that are beautiful and practical at the same time. Living in a smaller home always makes you think of these things ha! I was at one of my favorite little antique shops The Tomatoe Factory in Hopewell, NJ, looking for something else and came across this beauty. I could not get enough of the beautiful wood grain and finish. The aged brass details made this a show stopper for me. Here it is!

What I love about it is that opens up for almost a 4' console/serving table and I just used it last weekend for drinks and appetizers for a dinner party we had, it worked out great!

I also really needed a smaller scale cocktail table for my living room. I have been very patient trying to find just the right table in style and size. Our living room is smaller so I did not want to make the same mistake I have made in the past and get something that is too large that overpowers the room and interrupts the flow of the space. This piece recently came out and I loved the marble top and hammered gold base. I purchased it from High Fashion Home, a great online website. You need to stop by!

Finally last but NOT least, I picked up a couple of paintings from a local favorite artist in Stockton, NJ. I love his use of color and that his subjects are all local spots around Hunterdon and Bucks Counties. I been wanting a piece for a while and love them so much! Not sure where they are going to find a home yet around here but when they do I will do I will share!

Anyway, just a few updates that I have going on, any in your home? Please share them with me, I would love to see! Have a great day my readers!

Local One of Kind Finds I Just Love!

While on the hunt for unique one of kind pieces for a client design, I came across so many great things that I have to share with you! If you are interested in where to find any of these, just email me and I will tell where to go. I find the key to coming upon the "ahhhhh" moment is frequently checking places as their inventory is constantly changing. I saw this great marble side table and waited just one week and it was gone when I went back. Lesson learned: buy it when you see it!
