Sometimes simple IS better....

especially in the bathroom. There are endless ranges of tile choices and pricing out there. But I am definitely a fan of simple white bathrooms that don't have to blow the budget. Patterns and colors can be trendy and really date your bath 10-15 years down the road. Choosing simple white tile will always be classic and with a little bleach can always look fresh and great! Home Depot and Lowe's have plenty of options that are affordable. Playing with grout colors can also have a great impact. These photos below tell the story.....

Before and After: Melissa's Family Room Reveal!

Fellow blogger Melissa of Everything Fitabulous, reached out to me for some help with her family room. I was excited to say the least to help her with it. She had a general vision and all I needed to do was help her bring it to life!  They have two beautiful children and it is a room that they use everyday, so comfort along with style was important. As with most clients, there were several pieces that were staying in the room: sofa, chair, ottoman and armoire. After all, most of us aren't in a position to replace everything in room when we redecorate! We worked within a specific budget and the room is a perfect blend of high and low end selections. I wanted to share it with you all! Can you believe it is the same room with most of the same furniture? We love how it turned out and hopefully you do too!

Federal Colonial Dining Room Reveal!

I promised to show you a recently completed dining room and I finally had a good friend and amazing photographer Lindsey Reed Photography come and do the shoot! It was a lot of fun and I think she really captured the room beautifully.

A professional couple from NYC recently purchased a weekend country home in one of my favorite NJ towns Lambertville, NJ! The federal colonial had great bones and beautiful wood working, so my job was made that much easier. The client made some major purchases like the dining room table from Ethan Allen and also purchased an area rug. They came to a halt when in her words the room is becoming so "traditional." She expressed that she wanted an eclectic design with a bold statement made with the chairs. They only wanted to paint the walls, wall coverings was not an option and also requested not to move any electrical wiring that was pre-existing. Working within these boundaries as well as a specific budget, I presented three design concepts and she chose her favorite here! We spent some time choosing one of kind elements and we also incorporated pieces from big box stores and the result is so great! Here are some before shots including the new table and rug already purchased.

Here are some of the details I wanted to share with you....Th abstract artwork above the fireplace mantel is from one of my favorite studios - Black Crow Studios! It has become the focal point in the room and just brings out all the beautiful colors in the drapes and chairs. The antique chairs that were reupholstered are from a great local antique auction house Kamelot Auctions in Philadelphia, PA. I recommend a visit to one of their auctions! Design Spree of New Jersey!

If you take big box stores out of the equation like Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Raymour and Flannigan, Ethan Allen and Macy's, there are not many furniture stores for individuals to look at, sit in and feel the furniture they are considering buying. There are always small boutique shops that have one to six larger pieces of certain furniture lines but more often than not, if you like something online from Oly or Century, it is really hard to find them in person. So during one of my many excursions, I found two great options for furniture buyers in the tri-state area! The tags have the manufacturer's price, Design Spree's price and you automatically get another 20% off. You buy right off the floor and the inventory is always changing.
